“Strive to imitate the virtues and examples of our Savior Jesus Christ principally through preaching the word of God to the poor” St. Eugene
The 200th anniversary of the foundation day of our congregation (Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate) was celebrated at Aix, in a meaningful way. On 24th, at 10.30 am, we had a Solemn Mass celebrated by Rt. Rev. Bishop Christophe Dufour, at the presence of the Superior General of the Missionary Oblates, at St. Sauveur, Cathedral of Aix. The Cathedral was full, with faithful and some of the High Officials of the city were invited. In the evening, we spent time in prayer and adoration. On 25th morning, we meditated on the writings of our Founder. At 9.30 am, we started the procession from the Foundation room to Chapel of first vows, Fr. Superior General carried the Suplica of our Founder and Dn. Jerman, carried the Oblate Cross of our Founder. Thereafter, we had a Solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Louis Lougen OMI, the Superior General. After mass, we had simple lunch with the poor, the sick, and with the youth. It was an enriching moment to share our meal the poor. To mark the Bicentenary celebration, Fr. General, planted an olive tree. There was an exhibition on our Founder and his companions, and on the life and mission of Oblates. In the evening, we had a thanksgiving prayer animated by the Scholastics, representing different continents, it was creative and meaningful. For, this occasion, Fr. General, the members of General Government, five Scholastics representing different continents, one oblate sister, Lay Oblate Associates, the youth and the oblate community at Aix were present. It was an oblate family gathering. Jerman Jesuraj (India)

Aix-en-Provence.

Krzysztof Zielenda, OMI
