Scolasticato OMI Roma: MISSIONE GIOVANI

È stata una grande gioia per noi poter partecipare nella missione giovanile degli oblati in una parrocchia della Calabria (sud d’Italia) dal 4 all’8 Maggio. Eravamo 9 Oblati: cinque padri, due scolastici dello Scolasticato di Vermicino, due scolastici dell’IRS, James Sarenthirarajah e André Kulla, e alcuni giovani dell’MGC (Movimento Giovanile Costruire) di diverse parti d’Italia. Il nostro viaggio per raggiungere il piccolo paese Sant’Andrea dello Ionio dove si svolgeva la missione durava sette ore. Anche se il viaggio ci ha stancato, noi eravamo pronti e disponibili di cominciare questa missione. La mia esperienza è stata molto positiva: la gente, la cultura, l’amicizia, l’ospitalità e la semplicità.

“Illuminare tutti gli uomini con la luce del Cristo” (LG 1). Questo era il nostro impegno fondamentale, determinato e modellato dall’amore di Cristo. Noi siamo stati pronti a condividere questo stesso amore con i poveri in tante diversi Modi: visitando le scuole e le parrochie attorno sempre in ricerca dei giovanni con le loro diverse preoccupazioni. La loro assenza nella vita liturgica della Chiesa era evidente. Ma la nostra presenza e la missione li hanno animati e gli ha mostrato una cosa molto importante: centrare la vita in Gesù Cristo. Col tema della missione: “Ti aspetto fuori!” siamo riusciti a entrare nella loro vita accostandoli ai sacramenti dell’Eucaristia e della Confessione. Si sentivano amati, importanti e accetati.

Mi ha toccato il modo come il carisma oblato è portato nel mondo attraverso una missione come questa. Mi sono sentito come uno di loro. Ringrazio la comunità dello Scolasticato dell’IRS per le loro preghiere e per il sostegno dello staff. S. James Suren OMI

Visite nelle scuole

It was our joy and happiness to accept the mission that the Oblates initiated in one of the parishes at Calabria. With five Oblate Priests, two brothers from the Scholasticate of Vermicino, two from the International Scholasticate, Rome, and some young volunteers from different parts of Italy, the mission was started from 4^th of May until the 8^th. We had almost seven hours of traveling to reach the place where are were supposed to be. Even though it was tiring, we were ready and available for such mission entrusted. The people, the culture, the friendship, the hospitality and simplicity have characterized the experiences of mine.

So ‘to bring the light of Christ to all men’, (LG 1), our commitment was a fundamental sign that was shaped and molded by the love that Christ gave us; it is the same love that we come forward to sharing with all who, in one way or the other, remain poor in many phases, Matt:5.3. We went to the schools, parishes in search of the youths whose preoccupations were in different forms; their absence for any liturgical activities in the church was very much visible. But our presence in the mission made them feel challenged and showed an aspect that was very much important in their life; that was the centralizing of Jesus Christ. With the theme ‘I wait you outside’, we moved into their life and with the sacraments of Eucharist and Confession we could make them realize loved, important, and worthwhile.
I was too wondering about the Oblate Charism that has been carried out throughout the world by all the Oblates in and through the mission like this. I felt I was one with them. Thanks for all the prayers and support given by the Superior and the staff of the IRS. S. James Suren OMI

"Farsi uno" con loro anche nel gioco: André e P. Carmine Marrone

Dos escolásticos del Escolasticado Internacional Romano han participado, del 4 al 8 de Mayo en una misión que los Oblatos de Italia han celebrado en Sant’Andrea dello Ionio, Calabria, región septentrional de Italia. El equipo misionero estaba constituido por 9 Oblatos: cinco Padres de la comunidad de Cosenza y cuatro escolásticos, dos de Vermicino y James y André de Roma. A ellos se sumaron algunos jóvenes del Movimiento Juvenil “Costruire” procedentes de diversas partes de Italia. Nos centramos sobre todo en los adolecentes y jóvenes, que son uno de los diversos rostros de la pobreza actual, dice uno de los nuestros. Íbamos a las escuelas y a las parroquias en busca de los jóvenes cuyas inquietudes prescinden de la fe que recibieron en el bautismo. Su ausencia en las actividades parroquiales y celebraciones litúrgicas lo evidencian. Sin embargo, nuestra presencia en la misión fue un desafío para ellos y les demostró que un aspecto muy importante en su vida es centrarla en Jesucristo. Se acercaron a los sacramentos de la reconciliación y de la Eucaristía. Para nuestros escolásticos fue una oportunidad para valorar nuestro carisma y misión.

Prendere i giovani nel suo ambiente

Ce fut une grande joie pour nous d'être en mesure de participer à la mission de la jeunesse des Oblats dans une paroisse en Calabria (Italie du Sud) du 04 au 08 mai. Nous étions 9 Oblats cinq pères, deux Scolastiques de Vermicino, deux Scolastiques de IRS, James et André et certains jeunes du MGC (Mouvement des Jeunes « Costruire ») de différentes parties de l'Italie. Mon expérience, nous dit James, a été très positive. J’ai été marqué par la culture, l'amitié, l'hospitalité et la simplicité de toutes les personnes rencontrées. "Illuminez toutes les personnes avec la lumière du Christ" (LG 1). Ce fut notre engagement fondamental, déterminés et façonnés par l'amour du Christ. Nous étions prêts à partager ce même amour avec les pauvres : visiter les écoles et les paroisses, toujours à la recherche de jeunes dans leurs différents lieux de travail. Notre présence et notre mission les a marquées positivement.
Nous leur avons montré une chose très importante: centrer notre vie en Jésus-Christ. Avec le thème de la mission : «Je t’attende dehors ! » nous avons réussi à entrer dans leur vie en parlant de l’importance du sacrement de l'Eucharistie et de la Confession. Ils se sont sentis aimés de Dieu.
Je rends grâce au Seigneur pour avoir inspiré aux Oblats cette initiative charismatique de la mission auprès des jeunes. Je me sentais comme l'un d'eux. Merci à la communauté du Scolasticat IRS pour sa prière et le soutien du personnel.
