Breve gita a Castelgandolfo

The day welcomed us with a heavy shower and we thought that our small picnic would be cancelled. But our prayers were heard and the journey began towards Castel Gandolfo. This day is of a significance; because of the feast the Assumption of Mother Mary, the popes regularly visit this place and of course, say mass and stay here as their summer residence and it also remains as a vacation retreat for the Popes. But this time the traditions were changed. We were lucky enough to visit on this particular day.  This village is beautified by a lake called Lake Albano. We all were marveled at the nature that always draws people towards it. We feel like going back again and stay at the side of the lake; because of its silence and calmness that gave us the attraction. Let us learn to love the nature and cherish it because it always reflects the best of God’s creation. A very big thanks to our Superior whose initiative is of a direction  and teaching that make us responsible students.   James Suren

W. Popielewski

Montecassino.- It is always possible with our Superior who takes initiatives to visit the historical places in and around Rome. We are fortunate students of him because this Saturday (8.8.2015) we went to Monte Casino, which is almost 160 km away from Rome. This place is known for two reasons; first reason is that in Montecassino St. Benedict is the one who wrote the Benedictine Rules that became the founding principle for western monasticism. The second reason is that during the second world war this Monastery was thoroughly demolished because of the invasion of the  German forces, and then subsequently with much blood-shedding of the soldiers from Poland it was recaptured. There is a beautiful cemetery built as a monument for the respect of those soldiers. This place is loved by everyone because it is situated on the top of a Hill and of its Historicity. We all were taken by surprise and were blessed to get the tangible experiences in this Benedictine Monastery. Our Superior deserves a very big THANKS.  James Suren

Omdel

Montefiascone

On a beautiful Saturday we, the Scholastics with our new Superior went on a picnic to a place called Bagnoregio. This is the place where St. Bonaventure was born. We were drawn to a situation where we felt so sad, it is because this village had to face different geological configuration such as wind, rain, and earthquake as well and only a small part of this village is remaining. In the middle of the bridge there had been a very big Franciscan Monastery built by St. Bonaventure, but now it is no more. We also visited a place known as Montefiascone. This place is famous for wine tourism. This is also called Est!! Est!! Est!! di  Montefiascone. Here we bought a bottle of wine in order that we would enjoy it and also remember this Historical place in life.
At last we visited a palace where the Cardinals were convened to elect a Pope. And this place, Viterbo, reminds us as to how the name 'Conclave' came into existence.
We really enjoyed our picnic and these historical places give us messages to reflect and meditate upon our way of life and our Vocation. Thanks to the Superior who gave us a surprise on this day, because we never knew as to where we were going. After having got down from the car we started cherishing the beauty of the Place.  James

Viterbo
