Inculturazione e turismo

Omdel

Montefiascone

On a beautiful Saturday we, the Scholastics with our new Superior went on a picnic to a place called Bagnoregio. This is the place where St. Bonaventure was born. We were drawn to a situation where we felt so sad, it is because this village had to face different geological configuration such as wind, rain, and earthquake as well and only a small part of this village is remaining. In the middle of the bridge there had been a very big Franciscan Monastery built by St. Bonaventure, but now it is no more. We also visited a place known as Montefiascone. This place is famous for wine tourism. This is also called Est!! Est!! Est!! di  Montefiascone. Here we bought a bottle of wine in order that we would enjoy it and also remember this Historical place in life.
At last we visited a palace where the Cardinals were convened to elect a Pope. And this place, Viterbo, reminds us as to how the name 'Conclave' came into existence.
We really enjoyed our picnic and these historical places give us messages to reflect and meditate upon our way of life and our Vocation. Thanks to the Superior who gave us a surprise on this day, because we never knew as to where we were going. After having got down from the car we started cherishing the beauty of the Place.  James

Viterbo

Krzysztof ZIELENDA, OMI

Summer session for the oblate scholastics is a session that allows participants to live in the cradle of the Congregation, a spiritual experience which helps them to make a concrete step in their formation to missionary life. This year there were 15 scholastics who attended the session. They came from Poland, India, Italy, USA, South Korea, Czech Republic and Guatemala. During the session, they followed lectures on the life of St. Eugene de Mazenod, the history of the Congregation and the Oblate Charism. It was, then, followed and deepened with the visits to places where Eugene had lived in as well as with sharing in smaller groups. All those were done in a climate of openness to the linguistic and cultural differences of each participant. The session was animated by two members of the European Office of Formation (BEF), three formators and the Aix community. The session was closed with a Mass and renewal of vows presided by Father General at the tomb of the Founder in the Cathedral of Marseille. Krzysztof ZIELENDA, OMI

Joseph TAN VUONG NGUYEN

Joseph Ngueyen Van Vinh a était ici (1954-1961).

Provengono dall'immenso Oceano Pacifico e arrivano al Tevere...

Two new Scholastics have arrived to the community of the International Roman Scholasticate; Joseph TAN VUONG NGUYEN and  Peter THAI HO  HA. They come from the suffering church of Vietnam, the blooming country of the Vocations. ‘The blood of the Martyrs is a seed of a Christian’. Giuseppe was born in Dông Nai on November 21, 1982 and Peter on January 3, 1983 in  Binh Dúóng. Both of them have done their novitiate and completed their Philosophy in their own country and now they are immersed in to a difficult situation of studying Italian, a language so different from their own. Giuseppe and Peter are the first Vietnamists  who have taken initiative to step into an another reality to experience the Internationality in Rome.
